Dome Retreat

Truth or Consequences is a small city in New Mexico of approximately 6400 people. This town agreed to change its name in 1950 from Hot Springs to Truth or Consequences in response to a radio contest held by a radio quiz show called Truth or Consequences. The radio show agreed to air its 10th anniversary episode on site in whichever town formally changed its name to the name of the show first. Hot Springs won the contest and has been known as Truth or Consequences ever since.
